FAQ
Can I put this mod in my mod pack? What is your mod pack policy?
Yes, you can put this mod in any mod pack as long as the following conditions are met:
- Provide a link to the CurseForge project about the Twilight Forest mod
- Abide by the appropriate license (see LICENCE)
- Remove the mod from the modpack if requested to do so by the author
Help! I just respawned somewhere weird when I died!
When you die and respawn in Twilight Forest, just like in standard Minecraft, you'll respawn at the "spawn point", a position within a few hundred blocks of (0, 0). Minecraft attempts to spawn you at the first suitable point above sea level at any given spawn point - and unsurprisingly, the Twilight Forest's first suitable point is likely on top of the trees. This could also be nowhere near the portal to the Overworld, as it depends entirely on where the portal was placed in relation to the spawn point.
You can use a bed in the Twilight Forest as it is functional in this dimension. Note that time will not advance as the day/night cycle is not present in the Twilight Forest.
I'm using Optifine, and the mod isn't working correctly. What should I do?
Remove Optifine. Several issues arise between Optifine and Twilight Forest, such as maps not displaying correctly, visual oddities with the skybox due to shaders, or crash. Most issues relating between the two mods is often caused by Optifine, and cannot be fixed on the Twilight Forest side of things.
If Optifine is being used to improve performance, other alternative mods may be installed instead such as Embeddium, or modify the client config to adjust settings to better suit the system.
Why is ______ no longer supported?
For older versions of the mod, these are no longer supported as development changes to newer versions. This may mean some versions of the mod may have bugs that are not present in other versions as fixes were implemented later on. Support for issues on this version may be limited as a result of this.
For different mod loader versions of the mod, the circumstances may be highly dependent. The modding environment can be volatile and some changes may be greater than others. Such major changes can include adoption of new mod loaders as previous ones may not be accommodating for the development of the mod. Some versions of the mod - such as Twilight Forest for Fabric - may become unsupported due to a lack of team behind it.
This may inconvenience some users, however change may be necessary for the mod to help improve the overall quality of the experience.
Why is Minecraft stuck on the Loading Screen (Fabric)?
Fabric devs have updated their API since the last Twilight Forest release on Fabric. Due to this, Twilight Forest becomes unstable to use for this version (0.77.0) and will continuously loop the Mojang loading screen.
To counteract this issue, downgrade your Fabric API to version 0.76.1.
Can I play the latest version of the mod with older worlds?
It is unlikely an older world can work with the newer versions. It may vary, depending on how old the world is and the mod version. To be safe, backup the old world and attempt to start the world with the new build. If this fails, delete the dimensions/twilightforest
folder from the world and try again. This will reset the dimension to a clean state, but this will mean anything that was in the dimension will be deleted. Proceed with caution.
Keep in mind that, even if the latest version works with the old world, new features such as structures will not generate in existing chunks in the Twilight Forest. New, unexplored chunks will generate new features, however there is no guarantee the transition between old and new chunks will be seamless.
When will ______ be added?
Be patient!
It is best that new features are to be added in their own time so the developers can work on the new feature. For work-in-progress features, these are currently being worked on and when it is stable enough, will be released in the next available version. For any feature that may be planned, these will be implemented whenever it is ready. No estimated times of arrival are provided for feature implementation.
For questions pertaining to ports, this also cannot be answered as all processes take time. For future versions, a public release will only be ready when the mod appears stable in development and testing. However, for past versions that have ceased support or have not been supported, it is incredibly unlikely if at all that a port may happen. Though the mod source is open, there are some restrictions that may prevent redistribution and modification. It is recommended that any individual or team that wishes to undertake a mod port to discuss with TeamTwilight first to get the appropriate permission required.
If Experiment 115 looks like cake, then why isn't it described as cake?
We've asked the creator of the mod, Benimatic, time and time again, but he never tells us. He'd probably like to keep it a secret, and maybe for the best...
I think I came across a bug. What would I do?
The Twilight Forest has an Issues Page for things like this. There are several procedures in submitting an issue.
- If you came across a bug and you can see it, try you very best to capture the bug with F2 and submit the image there. If there is a procedure in finding this bug, make sure you can reproduce this.
- If you came across a bug, but you cannot see it, try to describe what you did to come across this issue. Make sure you are concise with your description, otherwise it can be considered as unable to be replicated.
- If you crashed, submit a crash report. Use a pastebin website to upload the text in the crash report, or submit a Gist on Github and link it to the issue. DO NOT SUBMIT THE WHOLE CRASH LOG ONTO THE TICKET.
If you have a suggestion for the mod that will improve the gameplay, submit it as an issue. It will be tagged as an enhancement and may be implemented whenever possible, but don't be over the top or spam several minor suggestions. If you are unsure if you want to submit a suggestion, you are welcome to talk with others on the Twilight Forest Discord and see if the community agrees.
