Can I put this mod in my mod pack? What is your mod pack policy?

Yes, you can put this mod in any mod pack as long as the following conditions are met:

  • Provide a link to the CurseForge project about the Twilight Forest mod
  • Properly credit the authors (Team Twilight)
  • Do not make money off the modpack
  • Remove the mod from the modpack if requested to do so by the author

Help! I just respawned somewhere weird when I died!

When you die and respawn in Twilight Forest, just like in standard Minecraft, you'll respawn at the "spawnpoint", a position within a few hundred blocks of (0, 0). Minecraft attempts to spawn you at the first suitable point above sea level at any given spawnpoint - and unsurprisingly, the Twilight Forest's first suitable point is on top of one of the trees (as it is a forest, after all). This could also be nowhere near your portal to the Overworld, as it depends entirely on where the portal was placed in relation to the spawnpoint. The easiest solution is to make your portal to the Twilight Forest near your spawnpoint; this way, if you die without a new spawnpoint set, you are in familiar territory close to your return portal.

You can also place a bed in the Twilight Forest dimension, and sleep there to explicitly set your spawnpoint!

I'm using Optifine, and the mod isn't working correctly. What should I do?

Remove Optifine. Several issues arise between Optifine and Twilight Forest, such as maps not displaying at all or incorrectly, shaders messing up the sky, or in the worst scenario, crash. Most issues relating between the two mods is often caused by Optifine, and cannot be fixed on the Twilight Forest side of things, and the only solution is to remove Optifine.

If you are using Optifine to increase your performance, you can instead install alternative mods that can improve performance, such as Embeddium, or modify the Configurations to better how well your world performs.

Why is Forge/Fabric no longer supported?

As of version 4.2.357, we stopped working on the Twilight Forest for Fabric, and in version 4.4.1977 we decided to move from Forge to NeoForge. Despite these changes, this does not mean we will be taking down any Forge nor Fabric releases, but they will be limited to their latest release: 1.20.1 (v4.3.2145) for Forge, and 1.19.2 (v4.2.357) for Fabric. It is unclear if Fabric will be continued in the future, but it is highly unlikely for the time being.

Can this mod be ported to ______?

In short: No.

There are many mods that actively support multiple versions, platforms, and mod loaders, but supporting many of these at once quickly becomes difficult to maintain. As a result, the Twilight Forest mod will only be supported on the latest supported Minecraft version, but older versions will continue to exist solely within CurseForge and Github. We are currently not considering distributing the Twilight Forest mod to other platforms, such as Modrinth.

Why is Minecraft stuck on the Loading Screen (Fabric)?

Fabric devs have updated their API since the last Twilight Forest release on Fabric. Due to this, Twilight Forest becomes unstable to use for this version (0.77.0) and will continuously loop the Mojang loading screen.

To counteract this issue, downgrade your Fabric API to version 0.76.1 and you should have no more issues!

Can I play the latest version of the mod with older worlds?

It is unlikely an older world can work with the newer versions. It may vary, depending on how old the world is and the mod version. To be safe, backup the old world and attempt to start the world with the new build. If this fails, delete the dimensions/twilightforest folder from the world and try again. You will lose everything that was in the dimension, but it will work with the new version, guaranteed.

Keep in mind that, even if the latest version works with the old world, new features such as structures will not generate in the Twilight Forest unless you were to explore an undiscovered part of the dimension, but it is much better if dimensions/twilightforest folder is deleted.

When will ______ be added?

Please have patience. We work on content at our own pace, so we will get to it when the time comes. There are no guaranteed ETAs.

It is best that new features are to be added in their own time so the developers can work on the new feature. For work-in-progress features, these are currently being worked on, and when it is stable enough, will be released in the next available version. Sometimes, there are features you never knew you wanted which can be added to the mod. These can be small and relatively easy to implement, and it makes the mod much more characterised and fun to play with.

If Experiment 115 looks like cake, then why isn't it described as cake?

We've asked the creator of the mod, Benimatic, time and time again, but he never tells us. He'd probably like to keep it a secret, and maybe for the best...

I think I came across a bug. What would I do?

The Twilight Forest has an Issues Page for things like this. There are several procedures in submitting an issue.

  • If you came across a bug and you can see it, try you very best to capture the bug with F2 and submit the image there. If there is a procedure in finding this bug, make sure you can reproduce this.
  • If you came across a bug, but you cannot see it, try to describe what you did to come across this issue. Make sure you are concise with your description, otherwise it can be considered as unable to be replicated.
  • If you crashed, submit a crash report. Use a pastebin website to upload the text in the crash report, or submit a Gist on Github and link it to the issue. DO NOT SUBMIT THE WHOLE CRASH LOG ONTO THE TICKET.

If you have a suggestion for the mod that will improve the gameplay, submit it as an issue. It will be tagged as an enhancement and may be implemented whenever possible, but don't be over the top or spam several minor suggestions. If you are unsure if you want to submit a suggestion, you are welcome to talk with others on the Twilight Forest Discord and see how we might feel.
