Deletion

hey so, alot of deletion stuff isnt with a tag, and thats mostly because i cant come up with a valid reason for each entry outside of just saying "this isnt useful for anything here" lol -Paradise (talk) 19:04, 1 January 2024 (CST)

Mining Tool and Other Templates

Mining Tool was used for simplicity of repetition. Makes the wiki easier to modify for newer folk. IE, "{{Mining Tool|Diamond Pickaxe}}" is more understandable than doing the whole line of "([[File:Diamond Pickaxe.png|link=|32px]])". TLDR; better user friendliness.

The addition of the style segment in the table templates was used to impliment multi-image data, instead of compressing it all into multiple varients of essentially the same thing. It was used specifically for all of the variations, and generally unused unless necessary. I don't see a reason to delete it, though if there is a better way of implimenting this then I think it should be looked into. -Paradise (talk) 07:23, 8 February 2024 (CST)

Due to how Mediawiki is formatted, there is no other good way except a boilerplate, but with such a small template, it would not be necessary, and at that point would only require simple copypaste. Based on how Minecraft Wiki handles this, it is also not clean and at this point just linking the image is preferred. Androsa (talk) 18:06, 8 February 2024 (CST)

That's understandable then. I figured it'd be more helpful, but if it's more messy then that's okay. Thoughts on the templates Androsa? I'm not sure how exactly you would like to proceed with them, but I strongly believe it should be how it was in order to remove blank spacing, and again, if there is a cleaner way of doing it with the tools we have available, I would be very willing to change it as necessary.
TLDR:
- Mining Tool can be deleted, I will have to update it appropriately if it is to be deleted though, so I can let you know if/when I finish this.
- All base templates need to have a way of compressing/removing blank space, essentially compacting them so there isn't large gaps between block entries.
