Travelling across the mountainous Twilight Highlands, it is easy to spot the dark, barren patches of darkness on the ground. One need only look up into the sky to see the underside of the Cloud Cottages floating above, casting their dark shadow down below.
Around a hundred blocks above the Highlands is the Cloud Cottage, a patch of solid clouds blocks out the sun, casting a shadow on the land below. These clouds are usually accessed via the Magic Beans.  top the clouds are several giant trees and one cloud cottage, containing several Giants.

An especially determined, or perhaps foolish, adventurer might build a tower up to the clouds, but for those who prefer safety, planting some Magic Beans in some enriched Uberous Soil beneath the clouds will find climbing up the enchanted beanstalk that results much more to their liking.
The cloud cottage is made of Giant Cobblestone with Giant Logs as a roof. If left intact, more giants may spawn inside the cottage following normal monster spawning rules.

Upon reaching the clouds, explorers have found a curious sight. Aside from being able to walk on the fluffy cloud floor without plunging to an untimely death, there are quite literally giant trees and a cottage, along with some very giant inhabitants. The cottage is very mundane looking, formed from Giant Cobblestone with a Giant Log roof, but is much harder to break apart as a result.

Adventurers who have not slain the Hydra, Ur-Ghast and Snow Queen will be affected by the same toxic rainstorm pouring over the rest of the Highlands, even up here. Once that has been done, there is the none to small matter of reaching the cottage in the clouds - the safest way is to explore the Troll Caves beneath the mountains and collect some Magic Beans. Once planted in Uberous Soil, the resulting beanstalk allows a quick climb up to the cloud, though placing some torches to light the beanstalk is recommended due to the darkness underneath the cloud.

The next task is to fight and kill a Giant carrying a Giant's Pickaxe. This oversized stone tool is strong enough to crack open the Giant Obsidian vault, which contains the Lamp of Cinders. This powerful artifact is needed to burn a path through the Thornlands, which will allow access into the Final Plateau.
If following the Progression system, the Cloud Cottage will be protected by acid rain. Slaying the Snow Queen in the Aurora Palace will dispell the rain.

In order to pass the Thornlands, one must obtain a Lamp of Cinders, which can be found in an Obsidian Vault in the Troll Caves. The vault cannot be opened without a Giant's Pickaxe.
