Kobolds are small, cobalt-blue creatures with large ears. Lore tells that they used to be helpful house spirits, carrying gifts of wheat or gold to villagers, but the Kobolds found in the Twilight Forest today are vicious creatures that attack without provocation.

This creature is found almost anywhere that is dark, and tend to group into large packs. If an adventurer was to wander off the Progression path and into a locked area, however, a single Kobold will appear, holding a Signed Book. Slaying this type of Kobold will drop the Book it is holding. This book gives a hint to the adventurer on where they must go to unlock the area. They drop Wheat and Gold Nugget upon death.

When in a pack, the Kobolds will all attack at once, becoming quite overwhelming to any unlucky adventurer. Luckily, there are many ways to fend these creatures off of you. Managing to defeat one of these Kobolds will make the pack panic quickly for a few seconds, giving you an opening to either escape or kill more with ease. Kobolds have an interesting trait of being distracted by dropped Bread, similar to the interaction between Piglin and Gold Ingot, and will run away from the player as it eats.
However, if an adventurer was to wander off the Progression path and into a locked area, a Kobold will appear, holding a Signed Book. Slaying this type of Kobold will drop the Book it is holding. This book gives a hint to the adventurer on where they must go to unlock the area.

During version 3.10.1013, a special Kobold spawned in the area where the unimplemented final boss will be in the Final Castle. Unlike other Kobolds, this one has a whopping 1024 (h x 512) health; the highest health of all entities in the Twilight Forest. This was added as a placeholder, holding the place of the rightful owner when the time is right.
