Humid and uncomfortable, the Twilight Swamp is a relatively uncommon sight in the Twilight Forest, and shares many similarities with swamps found in the Overworld. Due to the wet and muddy conditions, instead of Canopy Trees, expect to find Mangroves and smaller swamp oak trees, many of which have long creeping vines reaching to the ground. The Giant Oak Trees do manage to survive here, towering over the ponds. Many pools of water can be found here, with an abundance of lily pads of various sizes. Mosquito Swarms are frequently encountered here, and can leave an unprepared traveller sickened with a wasting hunger.
The Twilight Swamp is a biome that closely resembles the Overworld Swamp. This biome has Mangroves and swamp oak trees, with vines that grow so long they reach the ground. Many small pools of water have sand or clay at the bottom. Underneath the Twilight Swamp, there are Labyrinths filled with Minotaurs and other creatures. Mosquito Swarms are very abundant in Twilight Swamps.

For reasons unknown, the territorial Minotaurs have chosen to construct their labyrinthine homes beneath the swamp, with other creatures joining with them in the twisting darkness. The entrances to the Labyrinths can be discerned fairly easily by the experienced adventurer, as they resemble small Hollow Hills with entrances in the four cardinal directions, with the shaft into the maze below at the centre.

Although mosquitos are predominant throughout the swamps, they seem to be in biblical plague proportions when first approaching the Swamp, making it impossible to proceed into the biome without being attacked with the hunger sickness. Finding and killing a Twilight Lich in its tower appears to be the only way to disperse the clouds of insects.
If you are playing according to the Progression system, the Twilight Swamp will be filled with a thick haze of mosquitoes. Staying in the area will give you hunger sickness. Defeating the Twilight Lich will remove the curse on the Twilight Swamp.
