The '''Ur-Ghast''' can be found flying around at the top of the gigantic [[Dark Tower]]. It appears as a large, supernatural creature with many large, waving tentacles. It is covered in what adventurers fear is blood, or could be Carminite. This creature resembles the [[Carminite Ghastguard]], due to their ability to stalk players, as well as the Nether-exclusive {{mcw|Ghast|Ghasts}}, but is much larger and much more dangerous.

==Combat== 
The Ur-Ghast is extremely dangerous while in combat, and full Diamond, [[Steeleaf]] or [[Naga Scale]] armor is recommended to fight this terrifying creature. Adventurers are advised to be very careful where they're standing, as the Netherrack eternal fire can burn them, as well as the Ur-Ghast blasting them off the edge with one of its fireballs.

Adventurers also are advised to bring a Bow or a projectile weapon, as the Ur-Ghast can be a very tricky creature to land a hit on. The Ur-Ghast has only one main attack, but also has many different abilities and moods. Adventurers may also note that during Tantrum Mode, the player will take damage from the Ur-Ghast's tears.

===Fireballs===
The Ur-Ghast's main and signature attack. Like all Ghasts, it can shoot fireballs at the challenger, but it will shoot three of these at once. Deflecting these fireballs is possible, however it is dangerous to do so because only one fireball is likely to be deflected while the rest of them will explode around the adventurer. The Ur-Ghast will only shoot fireballs if the adventurer is in view, so taking shelter frequently is advisable.

===Summon Minions===
The Ur-Ghast has a special ability to summon [[Carminite Ghastling]]s with a lightning strike. These minions will spawn out of [[Ghast Trap]]s. They are weaker than regular Ghastlings, since a hit from any weapon could kill them. Adventurers are advised to be very cautious when they hear the lightning strike of an Ur-Ghast.

===Tantrum Mode===
When the Ur-Ghast reaches half the total health, it will begin a Tantrum Mode. It will change the weather to rain and keep on summoning minions. During this mode, the Ur-Ghast will not attack the player and only make loud wails and cry Ghast tears. If the player is under the Ur-Ghast while it's crying, the player will get hurt if hit by a tear. Because the Ur-Ghast is not shooting fireballs when it spots the player, it is the perfect opportunity to attack.

Note that this mode occurs when it is below half and above quarter of the total health remaining. Once it goes below this threshold, it will leave Tanturum Mode and resume attacking with Fireballs.

==Treasure== 
Once an adventurer slays a Ur-Ghast, a treasure chest will appear in the middle of the battle area. This chest will contain several doses of the Ur-Ghast's [[Fiery Blood/Fiery Tears | Fiery Tears]] as well as a few pieces of [[Carminite]]. Inside the chest will also contain the highly rewarding [[Ur-Ghast Trophy]]. The Ur-Ghast will also drop many levels of experience.

The Ur-ghast itself also drops {{mcw|Gunpowder}} and a {{mcw|Ghast Tear}}, but there is a chance that the adventurer will never get these items, as they may fall off the tower, and by the time the player finds these items, they would have despawned.

If the mod ''[[Immersive Engineering]]'' is installed, the loot chest will also contain a Twilit Twilight Shader Grabbag and a Twilit Shader: Ur-Ghast.

==Progression==
Using the [[Progression]] system, you will need to have defeated the [[Twilight Lich]] before entering the [[Dark Forest]]. Additionally, the Dark Tower, and all of its blocks and monsters, will be protected until the player has defeated the [[Knight Phantom]]s.

Destroying the [[Ur-Ghast]] and obtaining some of its [[Fiery Blood/Fiery Tears | Fiery Tears]] will complete the Dark Forest phase of the adventure. If the Ur-Ghast is the last of the three bosses to be defeated, the [[Highlands]] will open up for exploration.
