trouble installing Twilight Forest mod

Hi, I'm trying to install Twilight Forest mod on my son's MacBook. Have been trying hard for 3 hours now, no success. I managed to get the Witchery mod to work, couple months ago, but can't seem to get this one. Which Forge version should I use? What is the version of Twilight Forest Mod that is correct (I guess there's only one main version, right?). The instructions seem confusing. They say to install the latest version of Forge. But a help video I listened to said to use the same version of Forge as for the Mod - 1.12.2, I think. Nothing I try is working. Thanks so much for the help...
