Red Thread is a placeable item and navigation tool found in chests in the Labyrinth.
When Red Thread is placed in the world and the player is also holding the item, any placed Red Thread will light up and become visible through any and all surfaces, allowing players to easily trace their steps back. This makes for the main purpose of the item as it exists to help players mark and navigate their environments.
When placed as a block, it can attach to any solid surface and multiple can even exist in the same block space. This allows for potentially six Red Threads to exist in the same block.
Depending on the stack size, Red Thread will change its texture to reflect the quantity. There are four different textures.
