Biomes
To date, 19 distinct biomes have been categorised in the Twilight Forest dimension. New adventurers are recommended to craft for themselves a Magic Map, which will display the different areas in different colours, as well as the holder's exact position on the map. Major and minor landmarks are also marked prominently on the map.
While each area has its own unique characteristics, there are several common elements between some biomes that group them together in the following categories.
Common Biomes[edit]
These biomes form the vast majority of the dimension, with a wide variety of plant life, animals, ancient ruins and some hidden treasures for the sharp-eyed explorer. In common with the Overworld, some natural terrain features such as ponds, lava pools and chasms have also been seen.
Many have found the Twilight Forest especially peaceful to visit, as monsters are rarely encountered on the surface - only occasionally being seen shambling out of caves or ruins. As such, these biomes are relatively safe to travel in. No magical protections have been found here either, so any fresh faced adventurer can step foot in them without restriction.

Swamp Biomes[edit]
These warm and humid biomes are typically found clumped together here and there across the dimension, with the Fire Swamp surrounded by the normal Swamp. Due to the wet and slightly treacherous terrain, no structures such as Hollow Hills have been found here, though the Giant Oak Trees seem to be hardy enough to thrive despite the conditions.
Progression
A curse of Mosquitoes has been placed on the Swamp, causing debilitating hunger on anyone who steps foot here. Only by defeating a Twilight Lich will this protection be lifted. Additionally, the Fire Swamp is wreathed in burning ash and cinders, setting alight anyone who attempts to penetrate further into this strange biome. Slaying a Minoshroom and eating some of its Meef Stroganoff will provide protection against this effect.
Dark Forest Biomes[edit]
Compared to the generally peaceful atmosphere throughout the Twilight Forest, the Dark Forest biomes cast a grim and foreboding shadow on the land wherever they are encountered. Even looking across the top of the forest is a depressing sight, with nothing but a flat, desert like expanse of tree tops to be seen. No light can penetrate this canopy, making the forest floor extremely dark and dangerous, with many monsters residing within.
Progression
Strands of black magic have been seen in the Dark Forest, inflicting blindness on top of the night-like conditions. Defeating a Twilight Lich will dispel this effect, but only on the outer Forest. For those wishing to explore further into the strangely autumn-like centre of the Forest, they must venture into the Goblin Knight Strongholds and defeat the Knight Phantoms that rest in their tombs in order to completely remove the blindness curse, as well as unlock the Dark Tower at the heart of the Forest.
Cold Biomes[edit]
Deeply cold and forbidding, the cold biomes are easily spotted with snow coating the land, frozen streams and tall, hardy fir trees specially adapted to the conditions. One must use caution here, as several dangerous creatures like to make their home here and do not take kindly to intruders.
Progression
A ferocious blizzard sweeps through these areas, making travel virtually impossible with reduced visibility and extremely impaired mobility. Defeating a Twilight Lich calms the weather in the Snowy Forest, but the tall and imposing Glacier at the centre remains cloaked in freezing ice. Killing a fearsome Alpha Yeti and touching its magical fur will confer some of this power, providing protection against the blizzard and allowing exploration onto the Glacier itself.
Highland Biomes[edit]
These mountainous regions rise prominently out of the Twilight Forest and for many determined adventurers, represent the final challenge. The Highlands resemble the rocky Mega Taiga found occasionally in the Overworld, but as one climbs higher up, they encounter the nearly impenetrable barrier that is the Thornlands. Through these a brave explorer may glimpse the strangely barren Final Plateau, and perhaps even the awe-inspiring Final Castle, casting its shadow over the dimension.
Progression
Most never set foot here, as a toxic acid rainstorm floods the Highland biomes making any exploration foolhardy at best. "Final challenge" is an apt description, for only by defeating the Hydra, Ur-Ghast and Snow Queen will the rainstorm cease.
Rare Biomes[edit]
As the name suggests, these biomes are only occasionally encountered throughout the Twilight Forest. Those who stumble upon these areas can expect to find truly unique scenery and creatures that will only make their homes here. Perhaps in spite of the curses that have befallen other areas of the dimension, no barriers to exploration exist on these magical places.
