Carminite Reactors are rather dangerous Dark Tower Devices that can be found in the rooms before the top of the Dark Tower. When activated using 6 Redstone Blocks, they will turn green and turn the nearby Netherrack and Obsidian into fake Gold and Diamond Blocks. However, it will then suck nearby blocks up and then explode, summoning 5 Carminite Ghastlings. It can be broken and harvested, or crafted.

If the Reactor is placed anywhere else in the world, it will still create Gold and Diamond Blocks, but it won't directly affect Netherrack and Obsidian, rather making a 3x3 block of the fake Gold and Diamond blocks. It will still collapse and explode the nearby area and summon Carminite Ghastlings.
