Magic Trees are pleasing to look at, but their true power lies in their Magic Tree Core. When first grown, a core is dormant, but can be activated in the same manner as a lever; it will change in colour and appearance indicating whether it is active or inactive. All of these cores' effects take place within a 33x33 square, centered on the core.
Timewood Clock
The Timewood Clock is a Magical Core that grows within the trunk of a Tree of Time. This core looks like a Timewood Log with a grayed out clock in the middle. When right-clicked, the core will change appearance, turning more similar to a Clock, and perhaps appropriately, it will begin to create a faint ticking noise. Adventurers notice that the Timewood Clock will draws upon the magical energies in the world and affect the local time continuum; causing occasional acceleration for suitable blocks within it's range, speeding up things such as crop growth and various other tile entities are sped up. Adventurers have noticed that this block will always appear on the Western side of a Tree of Time, regardless of how it was planted or grown.
One must be careful when selecting a location for their Tree of Time, as a Timewood Clock cannot be harvested, even with Silk Touch. Attempting to break a Timewood Clock will drop as a Timewood Log, its magical power dispersed to the winds. However, some experts know that the Timewood Clock is able to be relocated with the right technique.
Heart of Transformation
The Heart of Transformation is a Magical Core that grows within the trunk of a Tree of Transformation. This core looks like a Transwood Log with a grayed out heart in the middle. When right-clicked and activated, the core will change appearance, turning a light blue colour, and the Transformation Leaves on the tree will emit more particles. Adventurers notice that the Heart of Transformation will draw upon the magical energies in the world and ground them into the earth, causing a similar effect seen in Enchanted Forest biomes, and transforming the biome into the Enchanted Forest. It has also been reported that strange magical sounds emanating from the core when activated, similar to the sounds of a Noteblock.
One must be careful when selecting a location for their Tree of Transformation, as a Heart of Transformation cannot be harvested, even with Silk Touch. Attempting to break a Heart of Transformation will drop as a Transwood Log, its magical power dispersed to the winds. However, some experts know that the Heart of Transformation is able to be relocated with the right technique.
Minewood Core
A Minewood Core is a core that grows on the Miner's Tree. This core looks like a Minewood Log, except for a small, emerald like gem in the middle. When right-clicked, the core will change appearance, turning the gem green. Activating this powerful Magical Core will cause ores to be pulled from the earth beneath the tree to be deposited on the surface for easy mining, with exception of Coal Ore. Adventurers who attempt to find the emerged ores' original location will find that the Minewood Core will always successfully replace the displaced ores with Stone.
One must be careful when selecting a location for their Miner's Tree, as a Minewood Core cannot be harvested, even with Silk Touch. Attempting to break a Minewood Core will drop as a Minewood Log, its magical power dispersed to the winds. However, some experts know that the Minewood Core is able to be relocated with the right technique.
Sortingwood Engine
The Sortingwood Engine is a core that grows from a Sorting Tree. This core looks like a Sortingwood Log, except for a closed eye in the middle. When right-clicked, eye will awaken and begin using magical powers to will the contents of closeby chests into various chests nearby within the core's range. Adventurers may notice that loot in chests near the Sortingwood Engine will effectively become sorted over time, moving the smaller stacks of any item from one chest to a chest with a larger stack of that item.

Attempting to break a Sortingwood Engine will drop as Sortingwood Log, its magical power dispersed to the winds. History
Version | Details |
---|---|
1.15.0 | Added Magic Tree Cores to their respective trees. |
1.17.1 | Cores can no longer be harvested. Instead, it will drop as their tree's respective wood (e.g. a Timewood Clock will drop as Timewood Log).
Cores can now be triggered on or off. Redrew cores for inactive and active textures. |
3.3.202 | Cores could be harvested with Silk Touch. This has been rectified, and no longer occurs. |
3.5.263 | Fixed a bug where harvesting any type of Magic Tree Core would always drop a Timewood Log instead of the correct wood block for that magic tree (e.g. harvesting a Sortingwood Engine should drop Sortingwood Log) |
